McLaughlin, Thomas Michael of Quincy, formerly of North Weymouth, passed away on March 30,2009 at the age of 85. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Doreen (McCall) to whom he was married for 57 years. Born in Boston on June 25, 1923 and raised in North Quincy, Mr. McLaughlin was the son of the late Thomas Anthony and Alice (Boyle) McLaughlin. Tom moved to North Weymouth in 1955, where he raised his family. He was a Federal Firefighter at the South Weymouth U.S. Naval Air Station for 23 years. He was also a W.W.II Army/ Navy veteran. He returned to live in Quincy upon his retirement. Tom was a charismatic man with a keen wit, whose motto was “leave ’em laughing!” He was a voracious reader, an avid cribbage player and one of Bill O’Reilly’s “Folks.” Tom also loved vacationing with his family in Wolfeboro, NH and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Tom is the brother of Richard McLaughlin and his wife Betty of Centerville, and the late Alice Shea. He was the adored father of Mark McLaughlin of Billerica, Corinne McLaughlin of Franklin, Nancy McLaughlin of Lake Worth, FL, Carole Heath of Plymouth and Andrea Tagg and her husband Bill of Melbourne, FL. Proud “Papa” to Melissa Monti, Kelci Heath, Nicole, Billy and Ryan Tagg. A true gentleman of quiet integrity, he will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Autism Society of America, 7910 Woodmont Ave., Suite 300, Bethseda , MD 20814 – www. autism-society.org. Services were private.
