Ward, Thomas J., Jr. of Rockland, formerly of Quincy entered into eternal rest September 5, 2014 after a long illness. Born in Boston, he grew up in Brookline where he graduated from Brookline High School in 1956. He then continued his studies at Boston University and the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
Briefly, he lived in Dorchester before moving to Quincy where he and his wife brought up their family of five sons.
During his 44 years in Quincy he was very active at Sacred Heart Parish, North Quincy as a lector, teacher of CCD and member of the Saint Vincent dePaul Society. He also was a member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus.
From 1955- 1964 he served in the Massachusetts National Guard. In 2002, he retired after 32 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training.
He leaves his beloved wife Constance (Farrell) Ward of Rockland and five beloved sons James T. of Connecticut, Thomas J. III and his long term friend, Susan Orlando of Quincy, Kevin M. and his wife Audrey of Hyde Park, Robert F. and his former wife Maureen of Pembroke, and John T Ward of New Jersey. He is also the cherished grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Brother of Elizabeth M. Colageo and her husband Henry of East Bridgewater, Albert F. Ward and his wife Diana of Hyde Park, Rita G. Cormier and her late husband Paul of Newton and the late Mildred M. Ward. Brother in law of E. Phyllis Fitzpatrick of Florida and the late Francis Fitzpatrick
Tom always enjoyed his many nieces and nephews and their families as well. With camera in hand, he became the family photographer for numerous family gatherings. He cherished every member of his extended family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at Thursday at 9:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Tom may be made to CURE PSP Foundation, 30 E. Padonia Road, Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093.
