Carey, Thomas J. of Hingham, April 6, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Helena M. (Cullen) Carey. Loving father of Thomas J. Carey, Jr. and his wife Ann of Hingham, Joan F. Proffit of Weymouth, Marcia L. Walsh and her husband Jack of Marshfield, Kathleen C. Smith of Hingham and her late husband Marshall, and Marilyn Carey Drisko and her husband James of Northampton. Brother of the late John Carey, Helen Formisano, Rose Cummings and Francis Carey. Devoted grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Mr. Carey may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society at Resurrection Parish, 1057 Main Street, Hingham, MA 02043. Mr. Carey was born in St. Ferdinand, Quebec and moved to the United States when he was seven years old. His family lived in Revere, Everett, N. Quincy and for the past 51 years in Hingham. He was married in 1937 to Helena M. (Cullen) and they shared 56 years together until her death in 1993. When he was young Thomas enjoyed boxing, baseball and football. When his children came along he continued to play sports but also enjoyed coaching them in their various activities. Thomas was a Grand Knight for the North Quincy Knights of Columbus Council #2259. He was one of the few to have served two terms as Grand Knight. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed competing in the K of C Golf League which took place on Monday evenings at the Furnace Brook Golf Club in Quincy. Mr. Carey spent his entire 44 year career at the Boston Gear Works in Quincy working in the Accounting Department. Thomas was a founding parishioner of The Church of the Resurrection in Hingham in 1957. He has participated in many church activites and has been a member ever since its inception. Mr. Carey was a proud graduate of Bentley College. Above all else he was a devoted family man.
