Thomas J. “Tom” “Mickey” Ahern of Weymouth, passed July 18, 2013 with his family by his side. Tom had lived in Weymouth for over 60 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. 50 years ago Tom started Ahern’s Janitor + Window Service in Weymouth, which he proudly operated for 40 years. In 1991 he became an active member of the Weymouth Club, working there part time until he passed away. The Weymouth Club membership awarded him many great friends and essentially became an extended family to him. Tom and his wife enjoyed many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Weymouth. Tom enjoyed boating, golf, tennis and traveling with family. He will be sadly missed.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Elizabeth “Bette” (Rose) Ahern of Weymouth. Devoted father of Jack Ahern and his wife Shah of Singapore, Brian Ahern of Bangor, ME and Deb Forbes and her husband Pat of Hanson. Cherished “Grampa” of Seri and Hafiz, Grady and Joe, Michelle, Cori-Lynne and Brody. Loving brother of Bobby Ahern of Medfield.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Tom may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 [email protected] .
