Thomas Patrick Gormley died March 22, 2025. Tom was 83 years old.
Born in Boston August 2, 1941, he moved with his parents from Hingham to Cohasset in 1942 where he spent most of his life, until his move to Allerton House in Hingham in 2022
Tom was the son of Thomas P. Gormley and Jeanne Toye Gormley. He was also the brother of Joel Toye Gormley of Marblehead, MA.
Tom was the grandson of Thomas P. Gormley, Sr., founder of Thomas P. Gormley & Son Insurance company in Boston, and his wife Margaret McMahon Gormley. Tom’s maternal grandparents were Joe Toye, editor of the Boston Herald Traveler, and his wife Bertha Shepline Toye.
A member of St. Stephen’s Church, Tom’s education background included Ripley Road School in Cohasset, Derby Academy in Hingham, New Preparatory School in Cambridge and, Boston University before working for The Boston Public Library for 41 years.
Tom’s interests included history, wetlands protection, raising ornamental waterfowl, show birds, music, and other positive and constructive pursuits.

A celebration of Tom’s wonderful life will be held and posted at a later date once details are in place.
Burial will be private.
