Thomas F. Pickett

Thomas Francis Pickett, son of E. Wallis and Julia Marie (Teeling) died peacefully on Wednesday, April 8 while traveling in North Carolina. Beloved husband of the late Thelma E. “Rumble” of Weymouth, to whom he was wed 59 years, Thomas was a 20-year retired operations support specialist at State Street Corp. and ING, following a prior 21- year career at General Dynamics in Quincy. A devoted father, he is survived by three children and their families: Scott and wife Margaret; Christopher and wife Lynda; Matthew and wife Anne, as well as one grandson, Nicholas. In addition, Thomas is survived by his brother Charles Pickett of Middleton, MA; the last of his five brothers and two sisters. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Thomas.

Born 1928 and raised in Salem, MA, Thomas was the youngest in his family. After a brief stint in the U.S. Marines just prior to the conclusion of World War II, Thomas worked for Wethersfield Dairy on the North Shore of Boston. Thomas later re-enlisted into the service during the Korean War, whereupon he achieved the U.S. Army rank of SSgt. assigned to the National Security Agency out of Arlington Hall Station, Virginia.  During his years of U.S. Army service, Thomas met and eventually married Thelma and they embarked upon a life devoted to bringing up their children and enjoying vacations at Point Sebago, ME, Tuscany and Paris. Many a long, relaxing time was also spent along the St. Lawrence Seaway in New York and on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal with his wife. Thomas enjoyed WWII history, was an avid model railroad hobbyist and is loved and missed by us all.
