McDonald, Thomas F. of Quincy, died on July 27, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Anna-Mae and James P. McDonald formerly of Readville. The beloved husband of Karen Nelson McDonald of Quincy. Devoted father of Kathleen McDonald Roglan and her husband Mark of Dallas, Tx and Julie McDonald Ritter and her husband David of Dickerson, MD. Cherished grandfather of Anna Roglan. Brother of the late Paul J. McDonald. He is survived by his cousin Charles T. McCaffrey of North Falmouth and many nieces and nephews. Tom was a lifelong summer resident of North Falmouth. He attended Boston Latin and graduated from Hyde Park High School. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cascade. He also attended Boston State Teachers College. Tom was employed for 43 years by the Boston Herald and was a member of the Boston Newspaper Guild. He enjoyed traveling, horse racing and the Red Sox. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Friday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers,donations in memory of Thomas may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Fl Brookline, MA 02445 .
