Byrne, Thomas F., Sr. of Hingham December 10, 2006. Husband of the late Helen (Kenney) Byrne. Devoted father of Helen Owen of Omaha, NE, Marylyn Wilk of Pittsburg, PA., Thomas F. Byrne, Jr. of Hingham, and the late Donna Stendig. Loving brother of the late Ellen Byrne and Mary Byrne. Cherished grandfather of 7 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Thomas F. Byrne, Sr. may be made to The Jimmy Fund, 1309 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA 02446-9918. Tom grew up in Dorchester, he was a resident of Hingham for over 50 years. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U. S. Navy. Tom was a very independent and active person. He was an avid reader and a huge Red Sox fan. He was very active with the Hingham Youth Baseball, coaching them for several years. In his youth, he was always active in baseball. He spent time every summer in Martha’s Vineyard, he loved the beach, the ocean and was a good swimmer. He also enjoyed taking walks along Nantasket Beach. He worked as a postal manager for the U.S. Postal Service.
