Canty, Thomas E. of Braintree formerly of N. Quincy, June 18, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Rosalie A. (Guarcello) Canty. Loving father of Michelle Mantia and her husband Fran of Norwell, Thomas V. Canty and his wife Robin Storesund of Kingston. Devoted grampa of Jennifer Mantia of Norwell and Nicholas Mantia and his wife Leigh-Anne of Cambridge.Brother of Mary Musie of Quincy and the late John Canty and Margaret Brine. Mr. Canty was a graduate of North Quincy High School and Wentworth Institute with a trade degree. Thomas earned his bachelors and Masters Degree from Boston State College. Thomas was employed Scott & Duggan in Boston working as a Union Carpenter for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He taught wood working in Boston Public Schools for many years. Thomas enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, FL. Thomas took pride in being a competitive ballroom dancer. Served in the U.S. Navy WWII from 4/8/9143 to 1/31/1946. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home,785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Wednesday at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to West Roxbury V.A. Hospital, spinal cord injury unit, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
