Theresa Richmond Mader of Hingham, formerly of Weymouth and North Quincy, died February 6, 2015 at the age of 95.
Widow of the late Wm. B. Richmond and Edward C. Mader. Co-founder of the Association to Overcome Multiple Sclerosis (ATOMS) of Weymouth. She served as clerk of Board of ATOMS for several years in Lexington and was secretary and president of the Weymouth Chapter. Mrs. Mader also volunteered at South Shore Hospital, Continental Cable Co. and the Senior Center in Hingham for many years and was part of the Gold Star Wives of America. Theresa’s memory never wavered, Quick-witted right to the end, and if she had a particular take on a matter she was not one to be shy about letting you know exactly how she felt. “Nana” was always there with an open heart to help, whether it was a friend, stranger, or an injured critter in need of a little TLC. This was evident when you look at the work she did with the M.S. Society over the years and her time spent volunteering. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and time spent with her family. Theresa was the beloved matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed.
Theresa is survived by 3 sons: William Richmond and his wife Elizabeth of Randolph, VT., James Richmond and his wife Marie of Weymouth, Steven Richmond and his wife Madeline of Hingham and 1 daughter: Patricia Hoban and her husband John of Plymouth; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
