Theresa (Terry) Hayes Dempsey peacefully passed away at home at the age of 85 on April 14, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family and life partner.
She is survived by her son Stephen Dempsey and his loving wife Judy Dempsey, of Hanson, MA, her daughter Marilee Dempsey of Dedham, MA, her life partner Hugh O’Brien of Weymouth, MA and her former spouse Fredrick B. Dempsey, of West Barnstable, MA.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. As well as her extensive loving extended family and friends.
Terry was born in Charlestown, MA before relocating to Milton, MA. She proudly attended Milton High school, where she enjoyed hayrides, gatherings with friends and attending as many dances as she could, if girls had been allowed to participate in sports no doubt she would have been on every team. She went to secretarial school at night while working full time, she then went on to work as a legal secretary at various law firms in Boston where she taught lawyers the things that they didn’t learn in law school. At the age of 50 she went to college to prove to herself she could do it. She lived a large part of her life in Quincy, a city she loved, where she was very active in Wollaston Mother’s Club along with many other clubs.
She will be remembered for being a vivacious, courageous and a confident spirit who lived her life fearlessly. Never without a laugh, a smile or the perfect accessory, Terry brightened every room she entered. Known for her great advice, family and friends relied on her honest, unbiased outlook on life. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral home service will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Terry may be made to Good Shepherd Community Care, Hospice, 160 Wells Ave., Newton, MA 02459.
