McCourt, Theresa E (McAleavey) Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Baypath Nursing Home Duxbury. She was born November 8, 1927 in Newark NJ to the late Hugh M. McAleavey and Julia (McCarthy) McAleavey. She was 85 years old. Theresa grew up in NJ and graduated Weequahic HS Newark. She worked at the Prudential Insurance Company. She married Gerald J. McCourt of Harrison NJ and they were married for 61 years. Together they raised 5 children all born in NJ. Before moving to Hingham in 1967 they also lived in Athens OH. They retired to the Cape in 1990 where they were members of Our Lady of The Assumption in Osterville.Theresa was the devoted mother of Patricia M. Batchelder and Dr. Carl Batchelder of Kingston, Terese M. Michaud of Cataumet, Gerald J. McCourt Jr. and Roberta McCourt of Pembroke. Ruth M. Stevens and Paul Stevens of Groton, and Brian J. McCourt of Chester NJ. She was a sweet gentle person who enjoyed reading, cooking, flowers and plants, music, shopping, and laughter. She had a deep faith and shared that faith and caring with those whom she loved. And the world is truly a better place for having had her in it. Theresa was the dear Grandmother of Ryan, Meghan, Kathryn, Michael, Jim, Lizzie, PJ, Connor, Patrick, Cameron, Stephanie, Danny and Chris. She was the sweet great-grandmother of Maggie, William and Colin. She leaves two sisters Ruth Steele of Toms River NJ and Patricia Reynolds of Union NJ. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Hugh McAleavey of Kenilworth NJ and John McAleavey of Toms River NJ. She was the loving Aunt of many nieces and nephews in NJ. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday January 4th 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday January 5th prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial immediately following in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the loving care of the medical and support staff of Baypath Rehabilitation and Nursing of Duxbury and the Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth. Donations maybe made in her honor to Cranberry Hospice at 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth MA 02360 and The Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Foundation 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
