Theresa B. “Tess” Collins

Collins, Theresa “Tess” B. (Maguire) of Abington, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on January 24, 2024. She was 90.

Born in South Boston in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Barbara (Connolly) Maguire.

Theresa and her late husband Jim greatly enjoyed Irish music, dance, and travel. They were members of the West Roxbury Irish Social club, the Norwood Irish Music Club, the Irish Music Club of Greater Boston, the Co. Donegal and Roscommon Association, the St. Brendan Society of the Co. Kerry Club, and the South Boston Irish American Society. Together, they made trips to Ireland, several Western European countries, Bermuda, the Bahamas and many parts of the United States and Canada. Theresa was also deep in her faith, praying the rosary daily. She loved to paint, was an avid reader, and enjoyed having tea and cookies with friends. Theresa was a tremendous woman who will be missed by all who knew her.

Cherished wife to the late Henry B. “Jim” Collins Jr. Loving mother of Barbara Dower and her fiance Kenneth Keith of Abington and James Collins and his wife Theodora (Becky) of Northborough. Grandmother to Amalia Collins, Matthew Collins, Anna Collins, and Kenneth’s daughter, Taylor Walsh Keith. Sister to the late Mary Leonard and the late Edward Maguire. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, Abington at 10:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in Theresa’s name may be made to the Brockton VNA Home Health and Hospice, 500 Belmont Street, Suite 200, Brockton, MA 02301.
