Mrs Sunberg spent her life in Christian ministry with her husband, the late William John Sunberg who she wed in 1954. Together they pastored for the Church of the Nazarene across Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. She was a dedicated and talented church pianist and vocalist, an accomplished hostess, and a woman of prayer. She is best remembered for her devotion to her family and for her unwavering faith and service to God. She was born in Pasadena, California on February 3, 1932, the oldest child of a Nazarene pastor. In 1954, she graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a degree in music. After many years of devotion to her church and to her family, she returned to Quincy where she has resided for the last six years. She is survived by her five children: Rev. Karen Fullerton of Quincy, Rev. Charles Sunberg of Indiana, Sandy Skelton of Illinois, Rev. William R. Sunberg of Canada, Rev. Jay Sunberg of Bulgaria, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her four siblings mourn her passing: Dorothy Alcorn of New York, Joann Sheets of Quincy, Rev Branson Roberts of Pennsylvania and Lois Howard of Quincy. The family will host a viewing on Saturday, Aug. 4th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.at the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service to celebrate her life will also be held at Wollaston Church of the Nazarene in Quincy on Sunday Aug 5th at 2:30 p.m. The burial will be in Hutchinson, Kansas on August 9th.
