Suzanne Seward Hurley, affectionately known as “Pidge”, age 79, passed away peacefully June 8, 2023 from end state Parkinson’s disease. Beloved wife of William T. Hurley III “Bill” of Hingham, she was the loving mother of Jessica Givney and her husband Matt of Hingham and Elizabeth Hurley of Hingham; cherished grandmother of Hannah and Jane Givney.
She was born in Boston and spent her younger years in West Roxbury. Her family moved to Barrington, RI when she was a child. She graduated from Barrington High School in 1961 and went on to get her Associates degree from Johnson and Wales University. She worked for many years in Public Relations in Boston. She and Bill were married in 1967 and after a few years living in Charles River Park they settled in Hingham where they raised their family.
Pidge was vibrant, loyal, competitive, practical, and fun-loving. She was a hard worker and she never quit or complained. She was a devoted mother who gave her children everything. She was athletic, and loved tennis and golf. She was a talented gardener. She was best known for being a generous and welcoming hostess. She threw amazing 4th of July parties on Seal Cove Road, arranged countless reunions with old friends and family and hosted innumerable unforgettable holidays.
Pidge was blessed to have maintained friendships with countless people from every phase of life going all the way back to 7th grade. She had great affection for friends from Barrington, Newsom & Co., Megansett, Ascutney, Hingham, Hingham Yacht Club, Cohasset Golf Club and beyond!
Pidge was predeceased by her parents, William F. Seward and Emily B. Seward, brother, Walter I. Seward and sister Sandra J. Seward. She is survived by brother William F. Seward Jr., of Roswell, GA; sister Sharon McHugh of Fairfax, VA and many adored nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial will be private.
