Susan E. Nurmi

Susan E. Nurmi, 81, of Quincy passed away on October 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late William O. Nurmi with whom she shared 59+ years of marriage. Devoted mother of Cheryl A. Hindle of Quincy and the late Michael W. Nurmi and his wife Rosemary of Quincy.

Cherished Nana to Michael W. Nurmi Jr. of Quincy and Max Hindle of Quincy.

Daughter of the late Rufus J. and Helen E. Clark. Sister of Rufus E. Clark and his wife Jean of Reading.

Susan worked for the Quincy schools food service at Willard School, the commissary and North Quincy High School before heading to Boston Financial Data Services where she spent 17 years in Food Service. Susan then moved on to become a switchboard operator at BFDS and spent 20 years enjoying her job. 

In 2018 at age 75, she entered retirement. When Susan lost Bill in October of 2021, and her 54 year old son, Michael to ALS In January of 2022, it literally broke her heart. Health issues plagued her from then on. She loved her family and many good friends and it was a pleasure to be in her company.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday October 19th from  3-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Susan will be cremated and her and Bill will be buried together in the family plot at Wollaston Cemetery.
