Susan Marie Rusconi

Susan died peacefully at home on October 10, 2023 surrounded by love after a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.  Susan’s life was a testament to her resilience, adventurous spirit, and deep love for her family and friends. Born and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts, to her parents, the late  Donald and Janet (Mattes) Rusconi, she embarked on a remarkable journey through life.

After graduating from Braintree High School in 1984, Susan pursued higher education at Stonehill College, focusing on Business. She then ventured into the corporate world. However, her heart led her to Western Massachusetts, where she decided to follow her passions.

In Western Massachusetts, Susan pursued her dreams by running her own gardening and landscaping business. Simultaneously, she enjoyed working at Old Navy, which allowed her to indulge in the activities she loved most—hiking, biking, and kayaking. Her love for the outdoors provided her with a sense of freedom and adventure that enriched her life.

Susan was not only passionate about the outdoors but also muscle cars.  Her dedication to restoring her beloved Firebird Formula car, affectionately known as “The Bird,” will continue on in many rides in the sunshine.

Susan’s commitment to physical fitness was evident when she ventured into strongman classes in her mid-fifties. This new endeavor exemplified her determination and passion for pushing her limits.

Being an avid foodie, Susan delighted in exploring new restaurants and cuisines with friends, with Thai food holding a special place in her heart. Her adventurous palate was a reflection of her zest for life.

Susan loved music, amassing an extensive and eclectic vinyl record collection throughout her life and was a movie buff, especially horror movies.

Susan was a very sociable person. Her ability to make friends easily and her sense of humor made her a joy to be around.   Susan or “Suzers” or “Sue Bear”, as she was affectionately known, always  brought  positivity and laughter to any situation. She was known for her silly antics while working at Old Navy and brought daily smiles to her coworkers’ faces.

Among all her passions, Susan’s greatest joy came from her three nieces, Leah, Olive, and Ellie. She cherished her time with them, sharing a wide range of experiences. They enjoyed kayaking, rock climbing, ziplining and going to the beach together. Even during her illness you would still find Susan shooting street hockey balls, kicking soccer balls and setting volleyballs with them.   And in more quiet moments, they would color and draw together.Susan’s love for her nieces was boundless, and she took immense pride in watching them grow and thrive. She was an avid fan on the sidelines of their sporting events and performances.  While she may no longer be physically present, her girls will carry her with them always in their hearts and how they live their lives.

Susan also leaves behind her sister, Sharon (Rusconi) and brother in-law Brian Ennis of Weymouth, her lifelong best friend, David Dyer of Middleboro, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. Susan’s legacy lives on not only through her passions but also through the love and cherished memories she created with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
