Stephen Kelleher passed away, surrounded by his loving family, after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 76.
Born and raised in Cappard, Peterswell, County Galway, Ireland, to the late Margaret (Walsh) Kelleher and Martin Kelleher. He immigrated to Boston in 1964 where he met and married the love of his life, Margaret (Moriarty) Kelleher in 1972. They made their home in North Weymouth, Massachusetts, where he worked for the MBTA and the Carpenters Local 67.
Stephen is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggy” Kelleher, his son Stephen and his wife Teresa, his daughter Tara Waters and her husband Jarlath, his son Joseph Kelleher, and his daughter Kathleen Crowley and her husband Patrick. He was also the brother of Patricia D’Alessandro of Chicago, Margaret Henner of Texas, Thomas Kelleher of Ireland, Michael Kelleher of Chicago and the late Matthew Kelleher and Theresa Denes.
Stephen loved Irish music and Irish dances, and spending time with his loyal dog Lucky. But his greatest role in life was spending time and being “Granda and Stinker” to his grandchildren, Aislin Kelleher, Avery Kelleher, Logan Kelleher, Brayden Crowley, Matthew Crowley, Johnny Crowley, Maggie Waters, and the Mighty Quinn Waters. Stephen had many friends, and was quick with a “Hi, how are ya” for anyone he met. His passing leaves an unfillable hole in his loved one’s hearts.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, June 16th, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in his honor to Tommy’s Place in Falmouth. Donations by mail may be sent to 90 Shore Ave Quincy, MA 02169.
