Stephen J. Macneil, Jr.

MacNeil, Stephen J., Jr. of Weymouth and Hope Sound, FL, died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at home surrounded by family. Devoted husband of Barbara A. (Palmer) MacNeil. Proud and loving father of Michelle MacNeil of Hingham and Christine Connor and her husband Gregory of Weymouth. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Mackenzie and Maggie Connor. Loving brother of Richard MacNeil of Cotuit, Anne Lantz of Brockton, Joan Young of Braintree, Susan MacNeil of Weymouth and Ellen Simmons of Cohasset. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Archbishop Williams High School, Braintree, he also attended Quincy College. He spent his entire professional career as a computer engineer for TRW, Inc. He grew up in the Wollaston area of Quincy where he met and married his wife of 45 years, they moved to Weymouth where they raised their family and eventually retired to the sunshine and easy living of Hobe Sound, FL. Steve was a simple man with a strong love for Family – his Wife – his Children – and most especially his Grandchildren. He loved nature and found great solace and peace enjoying nature’s quiet moments. He truly found no greater pleasure than to be surrounded by the ocean with his fishing rod in hand …. That was Steve’s Heaven on Earth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday, January 28, 2011 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church at 10 AM. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stephen may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.
