Stephen F Ondrick, Jr of South Weymouth passed away on September 30, 2019, at the age of 80. He was born, raised, and educated in Chicopee, MA by his late parents Stephen F. Ondrick, Sr. and Nellie (Grabon) Ondrick. After graduating from Chicopee High School, he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University earning degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Building Construction. Steve was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who served his country during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. As a registered engineer in Massachusetts, he operated Ondrick Engineering for 30 years. He was an active member of Elks for 45 years, advancing from lodge offices to national committees on ritual, serving as Past State President, and volunteering on a multitude of charitable events. He was founder of Weymouth Pop Warner Football where the highest award an adult can receive for working with children was named in his honor.
Steve was predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy Jane Minor and dear second wife Mary Megley Phalon.
He was a devoted father to Stephen Ondrick, III, of Marshfield, Margaret ‘Meg’ Gullotti and her husband, Anthony, of Harwich, Timothy (Tim) Ondrick and his wife, Susan, of Garland, TX, and Gregory (Gregg) Ondrick and his wife, Kristin, of Weymouth and step-father of Brenda Huettner, and her husband, Steve, of Tucson, AZ, Arlene Baldassari and her husband, Mike, of Hoboken, NJ, and Sally Krueger and her husband, Jeff, of Eugene, OR.
His 15 grandchildren lovingly referred to him as Djiadju.
He was a caring brother to Edwin Ondrick and his wife Carol of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Angela Ondrick of Cromwell, CT and the late Robert Ondrick. Stephen is survived by many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home at 809 Main Street SOUTH WEYMOUTH, and to gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior project, P.O. Box, 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675.
