Stephen Bennett Towne

Stephen Bennett Towne, 82, of Barnstable died peacefully on August 23, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Stephen was born in Boston Massachusetts on July 28, 1937, the son of the late Ralph and Virginia Bennett Towne. He was married to his wife Margie (Collier) Towne for 37 years. Stephen was a veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from Northeastern University and Boston University with degrees in engineering.

Stephen had 5 children: Kristine Towne Leahy (Peter), Laurie Towne Ford (Bob). Jonathan Towne, Stepsons Christopher Sprague (Patty) and predeceased by Jonathan Sprague. 8 Grandchildren: Andrew, Tim, Jake, Keegan, Quentin, Mia, Christopher and Abby.

Stephen was an avid mineral collector and was a member of the Boston and Harvard Mineral club. He loved reading, he and his dog Chance were daily visitors at the Sturgis Library in Barnstable Village. Stephen was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend. He loved and was loved and had a good life, he will be greatly missed.

A private funeral was held in September.
