Sr. Mary Angela Maciag, died on July 16, 2024 in her home in Milton, MA surrounded by her family, she was 97. Sr. Mary Angela was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 18, 1927 and was named Roseann T. Maciag. After her high school graduation, she enlisted in the Cadet Nurse Corp in 1945 and served until 1949 when she joined the Felician Franciscan Order as a Registered Nurse. Sr. Mary Angela worked as and OR and OB nurse at Okarche Memorial Hospital and Holdenville St. Francis Hospital on Okarche, OK. Sr. Mary Angela held a Masters Degree in Nursing, she was the Director of Nursing for 30 years. She was one of the founding members at McGuire Memorial Hospital for severely physically and mentally handicapped infants born with chromosomal anomalies. Sr. Mary Angela lived a profoundly compassionate life dedicated to serving others. Initially, as a registered nurse, she nurtured infants with care and tenderness. Her journey took her to Haiti, where she played a pivotal role in establishing and operating a clinic, Saint Rock Haiti Clinic, offering vital medical aid to the impoverished and needy. Beyond her medical contributions, Sr. Mary Angela also shared her artistic talents generously. Her paintings not only reflected her creativity but also served as a means of connecting with and uplifting others. Through her various roles as a nurse, humanitarian in Haiti, and artist, Sr. Mary Angela exemplified selflessness and dedication. Her life stands as a testament to the power of compassion and service to make a difference in the lives of many. Sr. Mary Angela lived to take her final journey to Coraopolis, PA to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, 75 years as a consecrated Felician Sister. Many parents, of the children Sr. Mary Angela took care of, were there to thank her and help celebrate this occasion. They were so very thankful for all that she did for their dying children, they never forgot her.
Pope John Paul II, gave her permission to reside with her sister Marian, a former Felician Sister for 21 years, to help minister to their mother in the last 6 years of her life. She felt very blessed to have been given this opportunity.

Aunt of Robert Stanich of PA, and his former wife Nancy Stanich of FL, Sylvia DeSimone of PA and Dr. John Stanich of Indianapolis. Great Aunt of Michael DeSimone and his wife Molly, Amara DeSimone of VA, Robert Stanich, Jr. and his wife Jen of Windermere, FL and Jonathan Stanich of CA. Dear friend of Ginny Connolly of Milton.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family on Monday July 22, 2024 in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy from 2-6pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at 10:30am in the funeral home prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Elizabeth Church - Our Lady Of Visitation Parish, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, MA 0218 on Tuesday at 11:30. Burial in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sr. Mary Angela may be made to The Felician Sisters of North America, 871 Mercer Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
