Scott C. Sherman

1969 — 2025

Scott C. Sherman

Sherman, Scott C. of Hingham, died suddenly on March 16, 2025. He was born and raised in Quincy, MA along with his brother Eric Sherman the sons of Patricia and Clyde Sherman.

Scott graduated Boston College High School in 1987 and went on to attend Boston College, earning himself Double Eagle status in 1991. Sherman worked as an insurance investigator and a paralegal before starting his police career. Scott was married to Sonya Smith for 21 years. They had two children, Scott Nicholas in 1994 and Sarah Elizabeth in 1997. Scott joined the Randolph Police Department in 2002, where he served for 23 years. In 2022, Scott was promoted to Sergeant.

While on the Randolph Police Department, Scott previously served as a School Resource Officer, a detective and was the department’s Elder Affairs Officer, where he was actively involved in programming at the Randolph Intergenerational Community Center. As Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag said so beautifully, “Sgt. Sherman was a highly respected and dedicated member of the department, serving the Randolph community with honor and integrity for many years. Scott was very funny, extremely intelligent, and well-respected. His compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public service made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know and work alongside him.”

In 2015, Scott met Christine Orr and they enjoyed 10 years together in Hingham, Massachusetts living with her two sons. Scott earned his Juris Doctorate and passed the Massachusetts Bar, the first time, in September 2021. Of course, when he passed the Bar, we all had to joke that “6 times wasn’t the charm” - referring to one of Scott’s favorite movies “My Cousin Vinny”. In the fall of 2021, Scott started his own law practice, Scott C. Sherman Law, llc. and began working on a variety of cases including family, corporate, trial and estate planning all while continuing to work on the Randolph Police Department.

Scott was an avid hockey player spending many years on the ice playing in leagues and in the annual Battle of the Badges (Randolph Police vs Randolph Fire Department). Anyone who knew Scott can attest to his incredible sense of humor, his ability to do impressions of anyone and everyone and he was unstoppable in his knowledge and intelligence to get almost all the questions correctly on the tv show “Jeopardy”. Two years ago, Scott discovered his passion of pickleball and very quickly became a formidable opponent on the court in singles and doubles matches. He enjoyed playing at Boston Pickleball Club in Hyde Park and in Norwell.

Scott was pre-deceased by his father Clyde Sherman in 2009 and leaves behind his mother Patricia Sherman of Quincy, MA, brother Eric and his wife Joanne Sherman and their two sons Trevor and Shane of Braintree, MA, his son Scott Nicholas and his fiancee Samantha Elkin and their two children Owen and Paislee in North Hampton, NH, his daughter Sarah Elizabeth and her husband Kyle Russell and their baby boy due in May of Exeter, NH and his longtime girlfriend Christine Orr and her sons James and Will Dietterich of Hingham, MA.
