Ruth M. Newell

Newell, Ruth M. (Walker) of Hingham, died February 3, 2016. 

Ruth was born in Cambridge and raised in Watertown.  After marrying the love of her life, Warren Newell, Ruth and Warren moved to West Acton, MA where they raised their family and opened a variety store “The News Shop” and were proud owners for 25 years.  Following their retirement Ruth and Warren moved to Bradenton, FL.  During their 25 years in Florida, Ruth and Warren would entertain others with their music; Ruth by playing the piano and Warren by singing.  In their later years, Ruth and Warren moved back to Hull, MA where they could enjoy time with their family.  Ruth then moved to Harbor House in Hingham where she participated in various actives including playing the piano for the Adult Day Program and the activities department.  Ruth had a love for music, but her main passion was spending time with her family.  She will be sadly missed. 

Beloved wife of 62 years of the late Warren Newell.  Loving mother of Carolyn Corrow and her husband Peter Maggi of Hull, Dr. David Newell and his wife Dr. Shirley Newell of Seattle and Nancy Bradford of Hingham.  Devoted grandmother of Tricia Moriarty, Kevin Corrow and his wife Amy, Laura and Julia Newell and Nicole and Haley Bradford.  Great grandmother of Matthew and Mia Corrow and Jaycen Townsend.  Cherished aunt of Stephen Walker and his children Victoria and Justine Walker all of NY. Also survived by many extended family and dear friends.

At the families request the Celebration of Life for Ruth will be private.
