Ruth M. Dowling

Dowling, Ruth M. (Sherman) of Hingham, April 2, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Thomas “Walter” Dowling. Loving mother of Linda Ingham of VA, Jane Roberto of TN, Judy Laird of VA, Thomas Dowling of Hingham, Sandra Kelle of ME, Martha Cutler of Hingham and the late Michael Dowling. Sister of the late Charles, John and George Sherman and Mildred Wendt. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, including the late Emma Sajewski, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth received great joy in her family. They enjoyed camping at Pinewood Lodge, Sebago Lake and Ellis Haven. She loved long walks with her dog Ginger, puzzles and playing Bingo. She could be stubborn, strong willed and feisty but her endearing qualities were courage and compassion. Mrs. Dowling was a graduate of Hingham High School. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
