Anderson, Ruth G. (Griffin) of Quincy, formerly a longtime resident of Needham, August 25, 2005. Wife of the late Arthur W. Anderson. Sister of Phyllis Burke of North Quincy and the late Dorothy M. Harvey and Alice M. Griffin. Aunt of Elizabeth Amancio of Attleboro, Claire Burke of N. Quincy, Robert Burke of Pawtucket, RI, Stephen Burke of Plymouth, Ellen Nackley of Norton, Gary & Scott Stewart both of Watertown, CT, Kenneth Stewart of Southbury, CT and Roger Stewart of Oregon City, OR. Ruth was born and raised in Dorchester, She is the widow of Arthur W. Anderson who was a professional painter, she was married from August 1955 until his death in July 1987. A longtime resident of Needham, MA, Ruth was a very active member of the Carter Memorial Methodist Church in Needham, she was also with the Needhan Senior Center. Ruth volunteered for many years at the polling centers. She was a member of the Boston YMCA Outing Club – BYOCA in her younger years and then again when it re-formed as a senior group. She was a descendent of the Mayflower passengers John Chilton and daughter Mary Chilton as well as elder, William Brewster. Ruth worked for 12 years at Houghton Mifflin Co. in Cambridge as a secretary. Ruth loved the outdoors and was a frequent global traveler well into her senior years visiting many countries including Australia. She love to join bus tours and her family remembers her taking up bird watching. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Tuesday at a time to be announced. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial in Needham Cemetery.
