Ruth E. (DeCoste) Linehan of Weymouth, died January 15, 2022 at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Ruthie was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth. She attended Mass and volunteered at church regularly. She was the beloved wife of Ralph C. Linehan, high school sweethearts from Milton High School, Class of 1960, and married for 58 years.

Ruthie and Ralph were 60 year members of “The Club”, a longtime group of friends who enjoyed monthly get-togethers and many adventurous vacations. Ruthie loved spending time in Swifts Beach, Wareham where she vacationed for 30 years and then spent the last 15 years being a snowbird in Sarasota FL. In her free time, Ruthie was very active in her women’s golf team named “The Sisters”. She worked at South Shore Vocational Technical High school and several different nursing homes, organizing activities. She loved to entertain at nursing homes with her singing group “The Windy Warblers”. In addition, Ruth led an epilepsy support group at South Shore Hospital and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Francis and Louise DeCoste. She was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Pearl and Francis Courtney. She was the loving mother of Karen Boyle and her husband Richard of Rockland; Deborah Hayes and her husband Stephen of Mystic, CT; Michael Linehan and his wife Michelle of Middleboro; and Michelle Arena of Abington and her late husband Anthony. Ruth was the proud Nana to her grandchildren Marisa, Richie, Jonathan, Jamie, Shane, Joseph, Caroline, and Jackson. Sister of Marlene Davidson, Carol Phelan, Marylou DeStefano, Robert DeCoste, cousin Francis Courtney, and cousin Ann Blake. She was predeceased by her brothers Jackie Morse, Donald Morse, Charlie Morse, and Richard Macumber. She was also “Auntie Ruthie” to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, South Weymouth at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Milton Cemetery to follow. The family kindly requests that visitors wear masks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, 3540 Crain Highway, Ste. 675, Bowie, MD 20716.
