Ruth E. Hurley

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth E. (Doyle) Hurley of Weymouth announce her passing after a long illness.

As the sun rose on the morning of Friday April 15th, 2016 Ruth entered into eternal peace with God with her devoted husband by her side. Jim, their loving family and friends and the devoted staff at New England Sinai Hospital had been right beside Ruth every step of her courageous battle.

Ruthie as many knew her, was born March 14, 1938 to Henry P and Ruth E Doyle. She grew up in Quincy and graduated Quincy High School Class of 1956. In her year book was written “oh so tiny yet so fierce”.  It was also in Quincy where she first met the love of her life, Jim. Ruth and Jim became the very best of friends, married in 1964 and together fulfilled their dream to raise a family. A true Love story. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and pride and in the end the source of her strength. She had an amazing will and determination, beating all odds, to stay with us here as long as possible, to see that her work here was complete. Ruth, a believer of angels had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and strong faith in God. Her favorite hobbies included spending time with Jim and the family, taking care of her grandchildren, decorating her home, gardening, baking, reading, QVC and collecting varied items. Ruth was a lover of animals and especially her dogs. Ruth will be dearly missed by all those who had the very special honor of knowing her.

Beloved wife of James R. Hurley. Loving and devoted mother of Daniel Hurley and his wife, Margie, of Cranston, R.I., Diane Coffey and her husband, Tom, and Donna Hurley and her boyfriend, Tom, all of Weymouth. Cherished Nunna of Katie, Maggie, James, and Emily. Loving sister of David Doyle of Quincy, and his late wife, Mary, the late Dorothy Duane and her husband, John, of Plymouth, and the late Richard Doyle and his wife, Sharon, of Weymouth and adored godmother of Shannon Acciavatti of Weymouth. Ruth is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews and many, many friends both old and new.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Road, Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
