Ruth E. Destefano

DeStefano, Ruth E. (Horgan) of Rockland, passed away June 9, 2023. Ruth was born in Quincy to the late Beatrice and Henry Horgan. She attended Dorchester High for Girls and earned her Bachelors degree from Boston State Teachers College. Ruth was a teacher at the William Bradford School before leaving to raise her family. Originally from Dorchester, lived in Hingham for over 30 years raising her family and later retired to Palm Harbor Florida. Ruth was an avid reader, had a passion for rescuing dogs and enjoyed music and art. Her biggest thrill was spending time with the young children in the family.

Beloved wife of the late Peter DeStefano. Loving mother of Lynn Carmody and her husband Richard of Norwell and Amy Pinto and her husband Leonard of South Carolina. Dear sister of Lyn Kauffunger and the late Janet Stanton. Cherished grandmother of Erica, Joe and Megan and two great grandsons, Lukas and Logan. Also survived by many friends, nieces and nephews.
