Ruth E (Corbin) Caruso, age 78 of Hingham, MA died on December 21, 2022 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born in Arlington, MA to the late Julienne and William R. Corbin. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1961 and Colby-Sawyer College in Maine. After college, she married Michael G. Caruso, MD and moved to New York while he continued his education. Returning to New England, they settled in Hingham where they became established and made many lasting friendships and added to their family. After a number of years, they moved to Tampa, Florida. In 1994, she and Michael parted company and Ruth returned with her children to Hingham where she began a new phase of her life. Ruth was happiest when she had a project to occupy her numerous talents. She bought and renovated a home in Hingham and then built a new home in Hull, MA where she lived for the last 10 years before returning six months ago to settle at the Hingham Shipyard. She loved the ocean and spent many happy summers in Maine in Kinney Shores. She was also an animal lover. She leaves behind “Gracie” the last of a long line of much loved Yorkies.
She was the loving mother of Elisabeth (Lisa) Knibb, OD of St. Louis, M. David Caruso and his wife Anne of Lithia, FL, Russell W. Caruso and his wife Sonia of South Weymouth, MA, John C. Caruso and his wife Sara Caruso, VMD of Glastonbury, CT. Ruth adored her family, especially being “Nana ” to her eight grandchildren: Taylor and Chase Knibb, Sophia and Annabelle Caruso, Sidney and Vivian Caruso and Julia and Corbin Caruso.
She was an avid reader, loved cooking fine and casual dinners and was very talented at interior and exterior design. She loved playing cards with her friends from The Hingham Ladies Club. She also enjoyed researching genealogy and has successfully mapped her family back in the 1800’s and beyond. She will be sorely missed by her family and her many good friends.
