Ruth A. Downing

Downing, Ruth A. (Dority) of Hingham, passed away April 20, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Leigh O. Downing. Loving mother of Robert T.Downing of Eldersburg, MD, Patricia L. Hood of Hingham and Michael R. Downing and his wife Deborah of Hingham. Sister of Pat Bracket and Barbara Esteys. Cherished grandmother of Leigh M. Downing, Thomas L. Downing and Kathryn M. Downing. Ruth was born in Maine and lived and raised her family in Hingham since 1966. She worked for Jordan Marsh Warehouse in Quincy for 15 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching HGTV and was an avid Celtics fan. She always loved taking the dogs for walks and having the family and friends over to swim in the pool. She will be missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10:30 AM on Saturday April 28, 2012. Burial in Hingham Centre Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
