Barritt, Russell O. of Weymouth formerly of Quincy and Rockland died on Saturday, December 04, 2010 age 95. Beloved husband of Natalie Barritt (Kane) of Weymouth. Loving father of Irene E. Morrell and her husband Francis “Bud” of Weymouth. Son of the late Leon and Beatrice Barritt. Predeceased by his wife of of 48 years Gladys (Kirkaldy) Barritt. Predeceased by his sister Thelma. Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey Morrell of Salem, Brian Morrell of Weymouth and Stephen Morrell and his wife Michelle of Easton. Russell is also survived by 3 great-grandsons, Alex, Nick and Jake. Russell was born in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School for Boys. He worked for Snap on Tool Corporation of Natick for 14 years as Assistant Plant Manager and Shop Superintendant before retiring in 1978. In his earlier years Russell worked for Holtzer Cabot Corp. inJamaica Plain for 26 years where he rose from Machinist to Union President to Machine Shop Forman. Russell joined the Masonic Fraternity in 1950. He became Worshipful Master of Lafayette Lodge in Roxbury in 1957. He was reelected Worshipful Master for a second term in 1969-1970. While Master he relocated Lafayette Lodge to Norwood. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the Hyde Park 25th District in 1967-1969. Member Taleb Grotto. Elected Monarch Taleb Grotto in 1965. Member of the Royal arch Chapter of Quincy. Friendship Council of Quincy. Quincy Commandry #47. Alleppo Temple, Shriners Wilmington, MA. Russell was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Braintree Golf Course. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday, December 08, 2010 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Funeral Service will be held in the Keohane Funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 09, 2010. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Russell may be made to Shriners Burn Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02109 or St. Jude Children’s Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38102
