Rosemary M. (Mealey) Reinhart, of Quincy, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Boston Medical Center. She was 76.
Rosemary was born in Boston on June 24, 1948, and was the daughter of the late George Mealey and Bridget Mealey. She was the sister of the late Gerard Mealey. She was raised in South Boston, attended local schools, and graduated from South Boston High School.
Rosemary devoted her early years to raising her two children, instilling in them the values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family. Her home was always filled with the delightful aroma of home-cooked meals, with her trusty cast iron pan being her favorite cooking tool. She always found creative ways for the children in the Squantum neighborhood to enjoy themselves. Whether it was a large trunk overflowing with beach toys or setting up ramps for bike tricks, Rosemary embraced every opportunity for fun. However, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she showered them with love and affection. As you entered her home, you would be greeted by an array of pictures showcasing their smiles and adventures.
Beyond her love for family, Rosemary was passionate about caring for animals, following Boston sports, cruising, and helping others. It was common to see her outside feeding birds, ducks, and squirrels or exploring Caribbean islands where she would make friends with local children, often bringing them treasured items they lacked, like a Red Sox cap or fresh fruit from the ship.
Rosemary was the wife of Donald Reinhart and the devoted mother of James Reinhart, his wife Diane of Weymouth, David G. Reinhart, and his wife Heidi of Hanover. She was the loving grandmother of James Reinhart Jr. and Kelly Reinhart, both of Weymouth, Catherine and David Reinhart Jr., both of Hanover. Rosemary was the best dog Mom to the late Charlie and Jake. She also leaves many friends behind, including her best friend, Pauline Anderson, who will remember her for her unwavering spirit and generous heart.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday. November 7, 2024, from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
