Rosemary L. (Cronin) McCarthy, of Weymouth, passed away on April 20, 2022.

Rosemary grew up in Newton, MA and attended Sacred Heart School. She graduated in 1957 from Catherine Laboure Nursing School after surviving polio.  During her nursing career, she met the love of her life, James McCarthy. They created many happy memories, raising their family in Avon, Braintree, Weymouth and Hingham.

She was involved with Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth as well as Saint Agatha’s Church in Milton where they sang in the church choir. Rosemary was a member of the family singing group, The Happy Hearts.  She was involved in many local community activities including, Showtime Productions, the Mothers Club at Sacred Heart parish as well as the Birthright Organization, supporting women in need. Rosie was an avid Boston sports fan.

She will be remembered as a brilliant shining light who filled the world with love, laughter, music and unending stories.

Rosie was totally devoted to the love of her life, James and their marriage of 62 years was a testament of true love, faith and commitment.

Beloved wife of the late James M. McCarthy.

Loving mother of James McCarthy, and his wife, Maria of NC, Denise MacDonald and her husband, Edward, of Weymouth, Catherine Morrissey and her husband, Sean, of Weymouth, and Christopher McCarthy and his wife, Jodi, of Franklin.

Sister of Patricia Marcotte and her husband, Ronald, of Weymouth, the late Francis J. Cronin, Edith Ford, Catharine Caruso, and George Cronin. Sister-in-law of Jane Kelley of Braintree.

Cherished Nana of James, Colleen, Ted, Cameron, Charlie, Molly, Jack, Mike, Haley, Hannah and Heather. Great-Nana of Abigail, Avery, Joshua, Emily, Ezra, and Charlotte. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

As a remembrance of her bright spirit, we invite all to celebrate Rosie’s new life wearing colors of Springtime at the services.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, April 24th, from 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. To view the Funeral Mass via live stream please visit https://youtu.be/3XrIETOazI8

Burial will be at later date.
