Gately, Rosemary, “Rose” (Comeau) of Weymouth passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 27, 2020. She was 71 years old.
In her earlier years, Rosemary worked as a legal secretary for John Hancock and she later went on to manage Quikava Coffee in Weymouth where she knew every customer and their exact coffee order. However, Rosemary’s true passion was her family. She was a devote wife to her husband of almost 50 years, Bill. A mother and best friend to her children, Kaitlin “Kate”, Tim and Matt and loving Grammy to Brianna.
Rosemary loved watching her shows, a “good” cup of coffee, baking with Brianna, a to-do list, shopping with Kate and renovating the family home with Tim. Rosemary will be remembered for her generous soul, caring heart and her strength.
Caring sister to her twin brother, Ralph “Butch” Comeau of Weymouth, big sister to Janice Marcella of Hull, Patty Dennihan of Plymouth, Paul Comeau of Florida, Kevin Comeau and his wife, Francie of Florida, Cathy Comeau of Hull and Denise Comeau of Hull. Sister-in law to John Gately of Weymouth and Bob Hogland and his late wife, Carol of New Hampshire. Adored by her best friends, Sandy Shontell of Braintree, and the late Peggy Walsh of Milton. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Services will be private.
When the time is right and the world is a safer place, the family will hold a memorial service for loved ones to gather and remember Rosemary.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the hospice nurses at NVNA, for their care, compassion and love given to Rosemary during her final month.
Memorial donations in Rosemary’s name can be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Normally, the funeral is an opportunity to gather in support of loved ones and to honor those who have passed. However, due to current circumstances, we are unable to gather and show support with Rosemary’s family. Friends and loved ones may offer support to Rosemary’s family by sharing memories or a message.
