When her children were young she was involved in all their activities. She would never miss a game, event or gathering. This followed through with her grandchildren’s activities. Rose worked as an Aid in the Foster and East Schools in Hingham. She assisted in the playground and cafeteria. She was a wonderful daughter to her parents. When they became ill Rose made sure they were both well cared for and comforted. Rose always made sure the Hingham Police who worked the details always had a hot cup of coffee on the cold days or a cool drink in the warm months. She also prepared an annual Thanksgiving meal for one of the officers. Mrs. Gratta was well known around Town Hall. Whenever she came by to take care of business, she always made sure to drop off a tin of cookies to the workers in the various departments. Her family describes her as friendly, peppy, strong willed, kind hearted and loyal. She was the “rock” of her family and ran a very tight ship. Rose was a member of the West Corner Women’s Club and The Hingham Women’s Softball and Bowling Leagues. She also played cards every Friday night with her girlfriends. She enjoyed BINGO and liked taking trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City, NJ.
