Rose Elizabeth McInnis, nee Kelley, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2024, in Hingham, Massachusetts at 100 years old.
Rose was born to Irish immigrants, Martin E. Kelley and Rose A. Kelley (Long) in Dorchester, MA. She was predeceased by her parents and her 9 siblings; brothers Martin, Earl, William, Albert, Robert, James, and John Kelley, her sisters; Virginia McCauley and Mary Kelley.
Rose married James F. McInnis, a World War II, Korea and Vietnam War veteran, and former Chief Petty Officer, in 1948 and the couple moved to Hingham in 1961. Rose enjoyed time with her large family and shared her love and talents as a singer, artist, guitarist, gardener, book worm and card shark. She was always quick to acknowledge how grateful she was for her life, health, and many blessings. Rose often shared advice with friends and family, which affectionately became known as Rose-isms. Rose had a keen sense of humor and great appreciation for those around her which made her easy to love by all who got to know her. She closed out her life at Linden Ponds, where she lived for over twelve years, truly enjoying all the friendships she made there, as part of that special community.
Rose was predeceased by her husband James, who passed away in 2014, after 66 years of marriage. Rose deeply loved, and is survived by, her six children; James F. McInnis Jr. (Eileen), Martin E. McInnis (Franny), Maureen McInnis, Rosanne Fitzmaurice (Ed), Michael McInnis (Karen), and Melissa McInnis (Dennis Benoit). She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren; Martin McInnis Jr. (Missy), James McInnis III, Michael P. McInnis (Maggie), Edmund J. Fitzmaurice (Gabby), Jaclyn Baggett (Corey), Derek, Ryan, and Gregory McInnis, Hannah, Jack, and Kaylie Marini, and 8 great grandchildren.
She will be missed dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection of Hingham, on January 8th at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
