Sister of Antoinette Maccaroni, Josephine Weathers, Carmella Liff, Stella Chiavuzzi, Carmella the 2nd and Rocco Chiavuzzi. Also survived by 6 grandchildren. Rose was born in Avellino Italy. She was raised in Boston’s North End by her parents Rocco and Filomena Chiavuzzi. Rose worked hard as a young woman, caring for her sisters, going to school and working to earn money for the family. She was very good at sewing and recognized by one of her teachers who sent her to Charles Textile Mending Company, where she was taught the art of French invisible weaving. She excelled at the weaving and was sought after by area owners who needed her skills. She was an entreprenuer and started her own shop with a friend in Boston, doing weaving for area cleaners and then later went to work for the Fix-it Shop. Rose was an independent young woman who worked hard and took care of herself. She had many friends, and during the Big Band era in the late 30’s early 40’s loved to dance and attended many social engagements. She sewed her own clothing and was a very well dressed woman. Rose met her husband at one of these dances, and after a short engagement was married on October 21st 1951. She was married for several years before her first son, Richard was born on June 22, 1957. Then came the remaining children, Roseanne, Joe and finally Anthony in June 28,1966. Rose spent all her time caring for her family. She was a great cook, and always had plenty of food for any one that visited the Befera home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY.
