Rosa Elisa Fogel

Rosa Elisa Fogel (nee Gonzalez), a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother passed away surrounded by her children on February 20, 2025. She was 90.

Rosa grew up in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Juan and Modesta (Quiros) Gonzalez, and one of 8 children. Rosa's life was marked by her strong work ethic, love of gardening, and dedication to her family. After high school, she attended nursing school in San Juan. She enlisted in the Air Force, where she served at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and was promoted to Captain. She later secured a nursing position at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she met her beloved late husband, Edwin A. Fogel, who was an officer for the New York City Police Department (Highway Unit 1). 

Rosa loved Spanish and Latin music, and if not dancing through her kitchen, could be found in her extensive and immaculately maintained backyard garden. She loved to travel, and took her children on frequent trips to visit family in Puerto Rico. She also loved watching baseball, and cheering on the New York Yankees. Rosa adopted a series of cats and dogs over the years, who were prominent members of her family, including Smedley, Tyler, and Jersey. 

Loving wife to the late Edwin A. Fogel. Cherished mother to Bradley Fogel and his wife Marlo of Chicago, IL, Paul Fogel and his wife Christina of Hingham, MA. Loving grandmother to Estelle, Gabriel, and Thalia Fogel. Sister to the late Carmelina, Ramon, Pastor, Mercedes, Raul, Reynaldo, and Gilbert, and sister-in-law to Reverend Richard and Waltrude Fogel, the late Arthur Fogel, and Nancy Fogel. Also loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, 02/28/25 from 4:00-7:30 PM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home Hingham at 21 Emerald Street. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Chapel at Cypress Hill Cemetery at 68-04 Cooper Avenue, Glendale, NY 11385 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, 03/08/2025. Burial will follow.
