Getz, Ronald William, age 70, died on March 26, 2010 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Wellesley and formerly lived in Newton for over 30 years. He was the son of the late Henry Getz and the late Mildred Shea Getz of Jamaica Plain. Mr. Getz grew up in Wrentham and moved to Newton in 1974. He was employed by the Filene’s Company of Boston in the Chestnut Hill store for many years until he retired. After retirement he attended the Norfolk Adult Day Health Center in Norwood. He was an active member of the Congregation Lion of Judah in Boston and the Newton Wellesley Weston Committee for Community Living (NWW). Mr. Getz leaves his lifelong friend, Sevrin Nelson of Wellesley (formerly of Newton) and his aunt, Mary Shea. In addition, he leaves many friends from his church community and his NWW family. Ron will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers contributions in Ron’s memory can be made to Congregation Lion of Judah, 68 Northampton Street, Boston, MA 02118 or the NWW Committee for Community Living, 1301 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02459. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday, March 30, 2010 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Funeral Service will be held in Keohane Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
