Ronald D. Green, 82, a longtime resident of Weymouth and former husband to the late Jeanne L (Blake) Green, passed away on July 17th after a short illness. Ron grew up on Morgan Road in Quincy, the son of the late Gerald R. and Helen E. (Lund) Green, brother to the late Patricia J. (Green) Hammond, and brother-in-law to the recently departed Lewis A. Hammond of Easton and Brockton. After graduating from North Quincy High School in 1960, Ron joined the Navy, where he learned his trade and accumulated a lifetime of memories cruising the Mediterranean. Morocco was his favorite.
Raising a family in the Rose Cliff neighborhood of North Weymouth, Ron loved coming home after a long commute to see kids still playing whiffle ball at the corner of Cliff Street and Canacum Road and would call balls and strikes until the street lights came on. Known for his love of history, Ron would recount the most interesting but generally unknown real-life stories of historical figures. Ron loved very old movies, all music, baseball, and an ice-cold Coca-Cola (or a "Tonic," as he called it.), even on the coldest days of winter. Ron was quick to smile, easy to make laugh, and always happy to help out. He is missed.
Ron leaves his daughter Abigail J. Green, his son David Green, daughter-in-law Erin, granddaughter Ava, and many nieces and nephews. Private services were held.
