Ronald C. Galliher, Ed.D

Ronald C. Galliher, Ed.D, of Weymouth, where he was born and raised, died unexpectedly on July 21, 2018 at the age of 73.

Ron served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees from 1969 to 1971. A strong believer in the importance of education, Ron decided to pursue a career as a teacher. For many years he worked at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, where he retired as the Department Head in Construction Technology. He also taught at UMass, Boston and was active with the Massachusetts Teachers Association, other professional associations, and was currently serving on the advisory board for Weymouth Vocational Technical High School. In the early nineties, he was one of three finalist honorees in the Disney National Teacher of The Year Awards. Ron enjoyed gardening and restoring his vintage Thunderbird and antique truck.

He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Joyce T. (Starratt) Galliher and they loved traveling together. Brother of Shirley Sprague, Esther Sita, both of FL, Mary Gaines of AL, and the late Auchester Galliher and Audrey LeMay. Brother in law of Virginia and Paul Piepiora. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) followed by Military Honors at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron may be made to the N.E. Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
