MacGillivray, Roland “Rollie” R. of Quincy, March 17, 2006. Son of the late Ronald & Mary (Quinn) MacGillivray. Rollie is predeceased by his 9 brothers and sisters: the late Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Charles A. MacGillivary, the late Regina Downie, Helen Corbett, Beatrice Frazier, Evelyn Clubb, Sadie Greenhalgh, Mary Margaret MacGillivray, John and Alex MacGillivray. Rollie is survived by two sister-in-laws, Marge MacGillivray of Florida, Stella MacGillivray of Charlottetown and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Roland Richard “Rollie” MacGillivray was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Mr. MacGillivray served in the Royal Canadian Navy, sailing out of Halifax, during WWII as a ship’s cook. He was honorably discharged in 1945. In 1946 he moved to Quincy where he stayed for 60 years. Rollie worked in the food industry before taking a job with Quincy Bargain Center, where he worked until it closed. Rollie then began working at Quincy Hospital as an orthopedic technician where he worked for 25 years, retiring back in 1985. He was a devout Catholic and loved to dance. He took care of his mother for many years before she went into the nursing home. He was very proud of that. Rollie was a member of the Quincy Elks Lodge #943. Rollie was the last of a very large family of 10 children. He was especially proud of his late brother Charles A. MacGillivary who earned the Congressional Medal of Honor.
