Rocco Taverna

Rocco Taverna of Hull, suddenly passed away January 25th, 2016.

Born in Riesi, Caltanisetta, Sicily and formerly of South Boston before moving to Hull many years ago. A skilled carpenter for Local 33, Rocco also co-owned and operated Maria’s Italian Cold Cuts in Somerville. A gifted man of multiple talents with a penchant for perfection, Rocco was often found working on his house, making his own wine, spending time at the beach, and tending to his special hobby: his vegetable and flower garden.  He had a passion for fine Italian food prepared by the love of his life, Maria, and loved to be amongst his most prized possessions, family and friends, beneath his grapevine with opera music playing in the backyard of his home by the sea.   Rocco will be dearly missed.  To know him was to love him.

Beloved son of the late Francesco and Laura (Oliveri) Taverna.  Devoted husband of Maria (Petrosillo) Taverna.  Loving father of Laurie Taverna of Hull, Frank Taverna and his wife Whitney of Dayton, Ohio and Jerry Taverna and his wife Joanie of Hull. Cherished “Nonno” of Alexa, Hillary, Hannah, Stephen, Nick, Rocky, Sam and Sofie. Loving brother of Anthony Taverna and his wife Theresa of Braintree, Rosalie Dalton and her late husband Ken, Tina Maria Taverna, Francesca Taverna and Frank Taverna Jr., all of South Boston and the late cherished loving brother Joseph Taverna and his wife Lucia of East Boston. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the services. Visiting hours will be on Friday 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rt. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital).

The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Hull Saturday at 9 AM.

Burial Services will be at Hull Village Cemetery, Hull.
