Cusack, Robert T., Sr. of Hingham, died April 4, 2015 after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Bob graduated from Waltham High School and Grahm College. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 on the USS Essex and USS Consolation. He had a career in broadcasting from 1955-1991. This included a radio announcer for Boston and Rhode Island stations, a newscaster, news director, and disc jockey. He was very active in veteran’s affairs around the community. He was Post Commander for the Hingham VFW 6053 from 1986-1989 and District Commander for the Plymouth County from 1997-1998 and was a member of the American Legion 120. He was an author and when he retired, he entertained seniors at local nursing homes. Bob loved music, sports – especially the Red Sox , and most of all his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Son of the late William J. Sr. and Annie (Tapley) Cusack. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Faria) Cusack. Loving father of Michael Cusack and his wife Cheryl of Rockland, Gary Cusack and his wife Donna of Scituate, Stacey Gainey and her husband Matt of Weymouth, and the late Robert Cusack Jr. Predeceased by 3 sisters and his twin brother. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 8:00 – 10:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to American Parkinson Disease Assoc., East Concord Street, Boston, MA 02118.
