Robert P. Wirtz

Wirtz, Robert P. of Abington, May 20, 2008. The beloved husband of 40 years to Barbara (Pearson) Wirtz. Devoted father of Mary Lou Wirtz of Weymouth, Robert Wirtz of Abington, Carol Casey and her husband Mark of Abington and Jimmy Wirtz of Quincy. Cherised grandfather of Jimmy, Zachary and Samantha. Son of the late Earl & Justine (Doyle) Wirtz. Robert is one of eight children. Bob worked at H.P. Hood & sons for 13 years. He was self – employed for 8 years and then began working for the Commonwealth of Mass. State Lottery in 1976 and retired in Nov. 2001 after 25 years , he was a marketing associate. He served in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean War. Bob was a life member of the Quincy Elks, member of the Morrisette Post and a proud member of the D.A.V. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and softball. He was a devoted father, who dedicated his life making sure his son with special needs was well taken care of. His family recalls how he would always fight for the underdog. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his loyality to his family and his quick wit. He will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Saturday at 10am. Visiting hours Friday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Mt.
