Robert M. Lincoln

 Lincoln, Robert M. “Bob”, 88, of Hingham, a retired structural engineer died Wednesday June 10, 2015 at South Shore Hospital after a period of failing health.  Born in Fall River and raised in Wollaston, he graduated from Tabor Academy in 1945, he immediately entered the U.S. Navy. 

He served as a Naval signalman in the Pacific and on Guam during WWII.  Honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to the states to attend Brown University graduating in 1951 with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He met his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Coleman, while public skating at Weymouth Skating Club. They married in 1962 and moved to Hingham.  He worked for Bethlehem Steel before joining Factory Mutual Engineering as a structural engineer, where he worked until his retirement in 1993.  Bob enjoyed skiing, spending time at his summer cottage in Chatham, and his family and pets.  He was a perpetual handyman.  He was a dutiful member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Hanover.  He is predeceased by his beloved son Christopher. Bob is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lincoln; his son Robert and his daughter-in-law Ellenmarie Lincoln; his grandchildren, Hugh and Celia Lincoln; his nephews David and Douglas Coleman and nieces Christine Cook and Diane Karas; his sister-in-law Norma Coleman.   

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-4 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Hanover. Burial is private.
