Flaherty, Robert M. of Quincy, passed away September 3, 2011. Beloved husband of Karen (O’Brien) Flaherty of Quincy. Cherished son of Mary (Ennis) Flaherty of Quincy and the late Thomas Flaherty. Loving father of Pauline Trenholm and her husband Gordon, and Maureen Feeney and her husband Martin; all of Quincy. Brother of Thomas Flaherty and his wife Ari of FL, Jean Barry and her husband Ed of Middleboro and Daniel Flaherty and his wife Jan of Peabody. Devoted grandfather of Patrick, Colleen and Eileen Trenholm, and John, Thomas and Kevin Feeney. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob’s whole life centered around his loving family. He adored his wife, children and grandchildren and did everything possible to make their lives more fulfilling. Bob grew up in Boston and resided in Quincy for the past 39 years. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He retired as a manager from New England Telephone Company in 1994 after 25 years of service. He and his wife Karen met on one end of Wollaston Beach and raised their family on the other end of the beach, in the Merrymount section of Quincy. Together they ran the popular snack bar for many years on Merrymount Beach. He enjoyed golfing, his work, and especially tracking the weather. He will be remembered for his helpful nature and his ability of always putting his family’s needs first. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
