Robert Lloyd Shaffer

Shaffer, Robert Lloyd of Rockland, formerly of Belmont, died May 16, 2014.

Bob was a very active member at Payson Park Church in Belmont where he served as their moderator as well as  a former Superintendent for Christian Education Program at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Belmont.  Bob loved to play golf, travel all over the world with his beloved wife, and if not traveling always could be found reading all about past and current history.

He was a proud Korean War veteran serving with the United States Navy.

Widowed in 1993 with the death of his wife of 35 years, Shirley A. Shaffer, Mr. Shaffer married Julia (Pitts) (Asci) Shaffer, who he is survived by. Loving father of  Robert L. Shaffer, Jr and his wife, Diane, of Westford, Laurie Ann Maczko and her companion, Gary Garfield, of Windham, NH, and David S. Shaffer and his wife, Patricia, of Acton. Step-father of Elizabeth Jagiela and her husband, Mark of Duxbury, and Louis Asci and his wife, Nikki, of Marshfield. Cherished grandfather of Robert III, Courtney, Katherine, Michael, Michela, Shirley, Nicole, Jared, Gregory, Jennifer, Kristen, Matthew, and Max. Brother of Manfred Shaffer of Placerville, CA. and the late Audrey Harrison. Brother-in-law of Edward Harrison Sr,  of Wilmington.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM in Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont Street, Belmont, MA 02468. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
