Robert L. Knight Sr.

Knight, Robert L. of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022. Robert was born in Quincy to the late Viola and Charles Knight. He was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1954 followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Seamanship and Navigation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Class of 1958. Robert proudly retired as a Commander in the US Navy with over 20 honorable years of service.  He spoke with great fondness of his years in the military and as a  “plankowner” on the Aircraft Carrier, the USS Independence.

Robert was a highly successful self-employed businessman at C.W. Knight Corporation and Rainbow Auto Body and Paint Supply.  He enjoyed coastal living in Weymouth and Naples, FL, boating of all kinds, golf and tennis. He was an avid cook and perfected the art of sourdough bread making.  He also very much enjoyed following the stock market and spending precious time with his family. Loving father of Jeffery R. Knight of VA, Robert L. Knight of Marshfield and Lorraine M. Murrin and her husband James of Marshfield. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Kimberly and Robert III. Predeceased by his brothers; Charles and John “Jack”  Knight.
